University of Kentucky Cumberlands sweeps series against Carolina University

The University of Kentucky Cumberlands dominated Carolina University in a weekend baseball series in Williamsburg, KY. The ninth-ranked team in the NAIA secured victories in all three games of the series.

In the opening match on April 4th, Cumberlands achieved a 15-0 victory over Carolina University. Cumberlands started strong with six runs in the first inning, while Carolina University managed only one hit during the entire game. K. Hamson earned the win for Cumberlands, pitching six shutout innings.

On April 5th, Cumberlands won the second game 6-0. They scored four runs in the first inning, adding single runs in the second and fourth innings. C. Muniz contributed significantly with a home run, a triple, and two RBIs. Carolina University's offense was limited to four hits. The victory went to Cumberlands' pitcher K. Billings.

The final game of the series ended with a score of 31-2 in favor of Cumberlands. Their offense was effective, scoring five runs in the first inning, 11 in the second, and four in the third. T. Prokes and M. Harper each hit two home runs. Prokes had six RBIs, and Harper had four. Carolina University managed four hits, including home runs from R. Smith and A. Fontanez. C. Morgan secured the win for Cumberlands.

During the series, Robbie Smith and Alexis Fontanez hit home runs for Carolina University, marking their team's first runs of the series.

This performance demonstrated Cumberlands' position as a top-ranked team in the NAIA. They showed strong offense and pitching skills, outmatching Carolina University in all three games.

Carolina University will next host Mid Atlantic Christian University on Wednesday, April 9th.
