The city of Winston-Salem experienced a cyber event on December 26, which disrupted certain systems and operations on the city's network. Authorities are collaborating with state and local agencies to investigate the source of the incident, assess its impact, and restore full functionality securely.
In response to the situation, some city computer systems have been taken offline as a precautionary measure. Despite this, fire and police services remain unaffected in their ability to respond to calls. Efforts are underway to restore full system functionality, but these systems will remain unavailable until then. Temporary workarounds are being implemented to maintain normal operations during this period.
Winston-Salem Forsyth County Utilities customers will not face service interruptions or late fees due to the outage. Although online payments are currently disabled, in-person payments can be made at the Bryce A. Stuart Municipal Building located at 101 E. First St.
