City offices will be closed from December 24 to December 26 for Christmas and on January 1 for New Year's Day. This closure affects various city operations, including City Link, which will not operate during these periods.
Non-911 emergency calls made during City Link's closure will be redirected to on-call staff in the relevant department. Routine service requests can be submitted via email at CityLink@CityOfWS.org, by calling 336-727-8000, or through the methods available on CityOfWS.org/Citylink.
Garbage collection schedules will change during this period. For the week of December 23, Tuesday's collections follow the normal schedule, Wednesday's collections move to Thursday, Thursday's to Friday, and Friday's to Monday, December 30. The same pattern applies for the week of December 30 with adjustments extending into early January.
Recycling collections also see changes: During the week of December 23, Monday and Tuesday maintain their usual schedule; however, Wednesday’s collection shifts to Thursday, Thursday’s to Friday, and Friday’s moves to Saturday, December 28. A similar adjustment occurs in the following week with Friday’s collection taking place on Saturday, January 4.
Yard waste collection follows a modified schedule as well: On both weeks starting December 23 and December 30, Monday and Tuesday collections occur on Monday; Wednesday’s are moved to Thursday; Thursday’s shift to Friday.
Leaf collection services will not operate from December 24 through December 26 and on January 1.
Solid waste facilities have altered holiday hours. The Hanes Mill Road Solid Waste Facility closes on December 24 and December 25 but opens on December 26 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., closing again on January 1. Other facilities like Old Salisbury Road Landfill and Overdale Yard Waste Facility remain closed from December 24 through December 26 and again on January 1. The Forum52 Yard Waste Facility and the EnviroStation share similar closures.
