Carolina University's baseball team secured a victory against Paine College in the 3rd round of the NCCAA South Region Baseball Championships. The game, held in Columbia, South Carolina, saw the Bruins narrowly win with a score of 2-1.
The Bruins scored their only two runs during the third inning. Alejandro Rodriguez hit a home run, followed by Paxton Tucker who singled and advanced to second base on a passed ball. Tanner Bray's single allowed Tucker to reach third base, and Leland Brown's sacrifice bunt brought Tucker home. The Bruins' defense managed to restrict the Lions to just one run over nine innings.
Jovany Mendez pitched for 4.2 innings for the Bruins and achieved three strikeouts. Drew Holcombe pitched for 0.1 innings, while John Luegering contributed two innings.
Next, the Bruins will face Columbia International University as they continue their pursuit of the Regional Championship on May 9th at 11:00 AM.
