The Winston-Salem Police Department's Real Time Crime Center (RTCC) will open to the public for tours on Monday, November 21 from 12:45 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. at the Vivian Burke Public Safety Center located at 725 N. Cherry Street.
The Real Time Crime Center (RTCC) serves as a centralized hub that allows police to respond to crime as it happens, enhancing the effectiveness of officers on patrol. Technological components of the RTCC include the community connect camera-sharing program and camera registry, a text-a-tip line at 336-276-1717 and the ShotSpotter gunshot detection system.
Money for the center came from a $700,000 U.S. Department of Justice/Bureau of Justice Smart Policing Assistance grant. The Winston-Salem Police Department was one of 10 agencies nationwide to receive the funding and the RTCC is one of the first of its kind in the region.
Visitors can park in the lots off Cherry and Oak streets and enter through the first-floor lobby.
