How HPU helped you get there: “High Point University resources have prepared me for a future in accounting. I visited the Office of Career and Professional Development many times to work on my resume. Utilizing this resource since my freshman year allowed me to remain proactive and take the steps I needed to achieve my goals. I also built strong relationships with HPU faculty in the Department of Accounting to prepare for my internship.”
Most impactful mentor at HPU: “My most impactful mentor is George Noxon, associate professor of accounting and finance in the Earl N. Phillips School of Business. He has been my academic advisor since freshman year and helped me navigate my unique accounting career track. He has supported me and consistently advocated for me throughout my time at HPU.”
What has your internship experience been like, and how is it preparing you for your future?: “Throughout my internship, I worked closely with the engagement teams I was assigned to. I participated in many status calls and meetings with clients, and updated documents and tested data to assist the teams through various stages in the audit process. This experience prepared me for my future by providing the opportunity for hands-on work with a client’s project and exposing me to the daily responsibilities in the assurance practice at Ernst & Young.”
