Keep Winston-Salem Beautiful is postponing to Saturday, Oct. 8, its annual Big Sweep cleanup of local waterways due to the threat of heavy rain from the remnants of Hurricane Ian. Big Sweep had been scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 1.
Big Sweep coordinator George Stilphen said that Big Sweep participants could be at risk, given that many groups would have been working in creeks and streams that may be running higher and swifter than normal due to the storm.
Stilphen has emailed participating groups to inform them of the postponement. For more information send an email to georges@cityofws.org.
