The city of Winston-Salem is currently accepting applications for its Successful Outcomes After Release (SOAR) program. The deadline for submission is February 16.

SOAR is a six-month initiative aimed at providing employment opportunities to individuals who have been involved with the justice system. This program not only helps integrate these individuals into the workforce but also offers personal and professional development training. Participants can expect to receive guidance in areas such as goal setting, financial management, communication skills, job-search techniques, and resume writing. Additionally, those without a high school diploma will be supported in obtaining their GED.

Eligibility criteria require applicants to be residents of Winston-Salem with at least one prior conviction. Furthermore, they must pass a drug test, consent to a background check, register with selective service if male, and be available to work 32 hours per week from Monday to Friday.

For more information or to apply, interested individuals can visit CityOfWS.org/3442. They may also reach out directly to Kemona M. McCarter at (336)397-7553 or via email at kemonam@cityofws.org.
