Denise D. Adams, Mayor Pro Tempore and North Ward Council Member, has been appointed to the National League of Cities (NLC) 2025 Human Development Federal Advocacy Committee. Adams will serve a one-year term, contributing to the strategic direction and guidance for NLC’s federal advocacy agenda and policy priorities. These priorities include workforce development, education, early childhood, public health, mental health, substance use, veterans, seniors, and immigration. The appointment was announced by NLC President Steve Patterson, who is also the Mayor of Athens, Ohio.

In her role on the Human Development Federal Advocacy Committee, Adams will help shape NLC’s policy positions and advocate for cities across the United States at various government levels.

“NLC’s federal advocacy committees are vital for uplifting the voices and needs of America’s 19,000 cities, towns, and villages to decision-makers in Washington,” said Steve Patterson. “I am excited to work with Mayor Pro Tempore Adams and look forward to supporting their vision and leadership as they serve on the Human Development Federal Advocacy Committee this year and help grow the partnership between local and federal leaders.”

The committee's leadership includes Chair Kim Norton from Rochester, Minnesota; Vice Chair Michael O’Connor from Frederick, Maryland; and Vice Chair John Strand from Fargo, North Dakota.
