City offices will be closed on Thursday, November 28, and Friday, November 29, in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. This closure will affect several city operations.
City Link will not operate on November 28 but will reopen on November 29. During the closure, non-emergency calls that are not related to 911 services will be directed to on-call staff from the relevant department. Routine information or service requests can still be submitted via email at CityLink@CityOfWS.org, by calling 336-727-8000, or through various methods listed on cityofws.org/citylink.
The garbage collection schedule has been adjusted for the holiday week: Tuesday's collection will occur on Monday; Wednesday's collection is moved to Tuesday; Thursday's collection is scheduled for Wednesday; and Friday's collection will take place on Monday, December 2. Yard waste collections have also been modified: both Monday and Tuesday collections will happen on Monday; Wednesday’s collection moves to Tuesday; and Thursday’s collection shifts to Wednesday. Recycling collections remain normal from Monday through Wednesday but change as follows: Thursday’s recycling is collected on Friday, and Friday’s recycling is collected on Saturday.
Winston-Salem Forsyth County Utilities has announced changes as well. The Hanes Mill Road Solid Waste Facility will close on November 28 but open again from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on November 29 with regular hours resuming Saturday, November 30. The Old Salisbury Road Landfill and Overdale Yard Waste Facility along with Forum 52 Yard Waste Facility are all closed both days but return to normal hours by Saturday.
