The Winston-Salem Urban Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) is assessing the transportation needs of the region through the year 2050. The Winston-Salem Urban Area 2050 Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP) will encompass various modes of transportation, such as motorized vehicles, public transit, bicycles, walking, freight and goods movement, and air travel.
The plan aims to evaluate the transportation system to identify the region's requirements. These needs will be aligned with recommended projects that will be prioritized for funding. This process intends to produce a comprehensive framework for effective decision-making and investment in transportation.
Community involvement is encouraged in shaping the MTP's vision and direction. In the coming months, residents can participate through digital engagement activities on a dedicated website and attend in-person meetings.
