Project Homeless Connect 2024 offers vital services for homeless individuals

The city of Winston-Salem, along with the Winston-Salem Forsyth County Continuum of Care and various non-profit agencies, is organizing Project Homeless Connect 2024. This event will take place on Wednesday, September 25, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Liberty Street Urban Farmer’s Market pavilion located at 1551 N. Liberty St.

Project Homeless Connect is a nationwide initiative designed to assist individuals experiencing homelessness by providing them with access to a variety of services and resources in one location. The aim is to connect those who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless with essential services and support through a single coordinated event, ultimately aiding them in their journey towards stable housing and improved well-being.

The services offered during Project Homeless Connect include:

- Basic Needs Assistance: Distribution of food, hygiene items, and other immediate necessities.

- Healthcare Services: Access to healthcare resources.

- Housing Support: Information on emergency shelters, transitional housing, and resources related to permanent housing.

- Legal Aid: Support with legal issues such as identification documents, criminal record expungement, and accessing benefits.

- Social Services: Mental health counseling, substance abuse treatment information, and other social support services.

- Hygiene Services: Access to mobile shower units and laundry services for personal hygiene.
