Judson University defeats Carolina University in national soccer championship

Carolina University's men's soccer team concluded their run in the 2024 NCCAA DI Men's Soccer National Championship with a narrow defeat to Judson University. The match, held in Kissimmee, Florida, ended 1-0 after a first-half goal by Gabriel Trevisan of Judson proved decisive.

The game began with Carolina showing promise, but a crucial foul call outside the 18-yard box in the 10th minute gave Judson their first opportunity. A shot on goal by Gabriel Trevisan required goalkeeper Joshua Wilson to make an early save, keeping the teams level.

Carolina responded quickly with a chance from Karell Buitendijk's well-placed free kick near the corner flag. However, Judson's keeper Ivan Dominguez managed to punch the ball over the bar, maintaining a scoreless match.

In the 21st minute, Carolina nearly broke through when Carlos Ramirez connected with a cross into the box, only for his shot to drift wide of the post.

Judson took advantage in the 24th minute when Gabriel Uno delivered a pass through Carolina's defense to Trevisan. He flicked it over Carolina’s backline and scored off the inside of the post for what would be the game's only goal. Despite Carolina's efforts to equalize, they struggled against Judson's strong defense.

In the second half, Carolina remained determined. Their best chance came early as Luke Spillane-Davis sent a shot just wide. Later, Joshua Wilson made an impressive save in the 60th minute to keep Judson from extending their lead.

In the closing minutes, Judson controlled possession and tempo, hindering any serious attacks from Carolina. The match concluded with Judson securing victory at 1-0.
