National Preservation Month essay contest winners announced

Six area middle school students have been recognized for their entries in the Historic Preservation Month essay contest. The contest was sponsored by The Chronicle and the Forsyth County Historic Resource Commission’s community engagement committee and was open to sixth- to eighth-graders in Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools.

Winners include: first place, Gabriel Chalfa, a student at Hanes Magnet School; second place, Zaye Miller; and third place, Otto Hellinger, both students at the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools Virtual Academy. Honorable mentions went to Levi Colt Plummer, Jasmayne G. Malone, and Amelia Hercules, all students at the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools Virtual Academy.
