The City of Winston-Salem has announced that applications are now open for the upcoming session of the City of Winston-Salem University. The program, scheduled to start on Thursday, Aug. 22, aims to provide residents with a comprehensive understanding of the city government and its operations.

"This no cost, in-person program gives residents a better understanding of city government, including the responsibilities of various city departments and the city’s role in the community," the official stated.

The program will consist of 12 weeks of classes, with sessions held on Thursday evenings for three hours each. Topics covered will include city governance and finance, sanitation, utilities operations, transportation, public safety, planning and economic development, housing, and recreation.
