FOIA Request Sent to Forsyth County Election Department Regarding Pre-Election Voting Machine Test Reports on October 30, 2024

FOIA Request to Forsyth County Election Department Regarding Pre-Election Voting Machine Test Reports on October 30, 2024. The Winston Salem Times, a media organization committed to comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, has requested records under the North Carolina Public Records Law, G.S. §132-1.

The request specifically seeks electronic copies of pre-election test reports for election voting machines in PDF format. The desired fields in these reports include the test date, machine manufacturer, machine model number, and machine status indicating whether it passed or failed the test.

As a media outlet serving the public interest by reporting news and holding public institutions accountable, we at the Winston Salem Times believe access to such public records is crucial for our work. We also believe that our role in disseminating information makes us eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional.

We await a response from the Forsyth County Election Department and will keep our readers updated on any developments.
