Residents of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, are gearing up for an informative day at the upcoming Piedmont Earth Day Fair. The event, scheduled for Saturday, April 20, will feature city departments showcasing various initiatives aimed at promoting sustainability and environmental awareness.

According to the event details, attendees can expect to learn about a range of topics from different city departments. The Sustainability Department, for instance, will focus on Bee City USA, natural landscape areas, and food resiliency. Similarly, the Recycling department will provide insights into the WS Collects App and offer valuable recycling tips.

Furthermore, Keep Winston-Salem Beautiful will shed light on the upcoming Big Sweep event in October, along with distributing ashtrays for cigarette butts and engaging children with activity books. The Transportation department will highlight developments concerning the Long Branch Trail extensions and the Salem Parkway multi-use path.

In addition to these, the Field Operations/Stormwater team will educate visitors on preventing stormwater pollution and the impact of storm drains on the city’s waterways and road safety. Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Utilities will also play a part by promoting campaigns like “Can the Grease” and “No Wipes in Pipes” to address sewer overflows by advocating for proper disposal practices.

Residents are encouraged to take advantage of the free parking available at the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds midway by entering through gate seven on Shorefair Drive. For further details about the Piedmont Earth Day Fair, interested individuals can visit PEANC.org.
