City offices in [City Name] will be closed for several days during the Christmas and New Year's holidays. According to an announcement made on [Date], city operations will be affected during these periods.
During the week of Christmas, there will be some changes to the garbage and recycling collections. The garbage collections will follow the normal schedule, while recycling collections will be delayed by one day. For example, the Monday, Dec. 25 collection will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 26, the Tuesday, Dec. 26 collection will take place on Wednesday, Dec. 27, and so on.
Yard waste collections will also be affected during the Christmas week. The collections for Monday, Dec. 25 and Tuesday, Dec. 26 will be postponed and will take place on Wednesday, Dec. 27. Similarly, the Wednesday, Dec. 27 collection will be moved to Thursday, Dec. 28, and the Thursday, Dec. 28 collection will take place on Friday, Dec. 29.
CityLink 311, the city's citizen service call center, will be closed from Monday, Dec. 25 through Wednesday, Dec. 27. However, during the closure, non-911 emergency calls will be forwarded to on-call staff with the appropriate department. Requests for routine information or services can be submitted by email to CityOfWS.org or through the CityLink 311 mobile app. Immediate responses can also be obtained by texting 855-481-LINK (5465).
The Hanes Mill Road Solid Waste Facility will have special operating hours during the holiday season. It will be open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 22, but will be closed from Dec. 23-25. The landfill will be open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 26.
Other waste facilities, such as the Overdale Road and Forum 52 yard waste facilities, and the Old Salisbury Road Landfill, will be closed from Dec. 22-26. The 3RC EnviroStation will also be closed during this period.
Moving on to the week of New Year's Day, the garbage collections will proceed as usual. However, recycling collections will be delayed by one day. For instance, the Monday, Jan. 1 collection will take place on Tuesday, Jan. 2, the Tuesday, Jan. 2 collection will take place on Wednesday, Jan. 3, and so on.
Similar to the Christmas week, all yard waste collections during the New Year's week will be postponed by one day. The Monday, Jan. 1 collection will take place on Tuesday, Jan. 2, the Tuesday, Jan. 2 collection will take place on Wednesday, Jan. 3, and so on.
CityLink 311 will be closed on Monday, Jan. 1 in observance of New Year's Day.
