Public Notice - 2022 Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program

The Winston-Salem Police Department is requesting public comment regarding the 2022 Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program, which is administered by the US Department of Justice.

The City of Winston-Salem and Forsyth County law enforcement agencies are eligible to share $255,662 in 2022 Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) funds. These agencies are designated as a disparate jurisdiction, and therefore they have agreed to each share 50% of the grant award ($127,831 to each agency). Funds must be used for law enforcement purposes. The City of Winston-Salem will serve as fiscal agent for the grant.

The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office and the Winston-Salem Police Department are proposing to use their shares of grant award funding to purchase a transport vehicle, law enforcement equipment, and software.

The Winston-Salem City Council will vote on the proposed use of funds by the Police Department on August 15, 2022. Citizens have the opportunity to comment on these proposed items by contacting the Winston-Salem Police Department, 725 N. Cherry Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27101 at (336) 773-7760.
