Forsyth County issued the following announcement on December 10.

The Forsyth County Department of Public Health is offering COVID vaccinations next week at the health department and Christmas for the City. Boosters are available for adults, and Pfizer boosters are now available for ages 16 and 17 with parental consent, if it’s been six months since their second dose.

Public Health will be taking walk-ups for ages 12 and up from 12-6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 18, during Christmas for the City at the Benton Convention Center, 301 W 5th St. in Winston-Salem. The event will feature music, art and other interactive Christmas-themed activities.

Appointments are encouraged for COVID-19 vaccinations at the Public Health Department, 799 N. Highland Ave., where vaccinations are available for both children ages 5-11 and those 12 and up.

Appointments can be made at Bit.Ly/FCNCCovidVaccine or by calling 336-582-0800 from 8 a.m. -5 p.m. Mon-Fri. COVID vaccination appointments for all ages will be held Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Thursday 8 a.m.-8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m.-12 p.m.

Booster shots are available to anyone over age 18 who received the Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine if it’s been 6 months since they received their second shot. Anyone over 18 may receive a booster dose of Johnson & Johnson if it’s been 2 months since their single dose of that vaccine. Adults can choose which COVID-19 vaccine they want as a booster dose, so they can receive a different vaccine than what they received in their primary series.

Vaccinations are free and no ID or insurance is needed. While supplies last, the single-dose Johnson and Johnson vaccine for ages 18 and up is available as well as the two-dose Pfizer vaccine, for ages 12 and up, and Moderna for ages 18 and up.
