Forsyth County issued the following announcement on September 15.
Periodically throughout the year Forsyth County declares various personal property items as surplus; by Board resolution, these items are sold via public electronic auction. When this occurs, Property Management is tasked with the responsibility of handling the sale of the surplus items. This is done by using GovDeals, a public auction website specifically for government agencies, to list any item(s) that Forsyth County has for sale. Once items are grouped together, tagged by lot number and photographed they are listed on GovDeals for a two week bid period. Once the two week period ends and the sale has concluded Property Management staff works with the winning bidders to schedule pickups of any lot(s) they may have won.
Public viewing of available items will be the week of Sept 20th- 24th, by appointment only. Appointments will be between the hours of 8 a.m.- 4 p.m. Anyone wanting to make an appointment can contact Tim Mendenhall at 336-703-2284 or email propertymanagement@forsyth.cc. There is also a link to view the lots for sale under the "Auction" tab on the County website.
The use of GovDeals by the County allows for more people to have an equal opportunity to bid on these surplus items. GovDeals sales also allow citizens to bid from the comfort of their home without the worry of bad weather that could be encountered at an on-site auction.
The County currently has items for an upcoming sale on GovDeals. The next sale will run from Monday September 27th through Monday October 11th. To view these items please visit GovDeals.com, beginning Monday September 27th, click on location search and enter your zip code. Forsyth County will pop up and you will be able to view all available items from this page. If you have any questions concerning GovDeals please email propertymanagement@forsyth.cc.
