City of Winston-Salem issued the following announcement on September 15.
Due to a continued serious shortage of bus operators, WSTA has been forced to temporarily suspend night service on 13 routes after their 7pm outbound trips. This temporary suspension will be effective beginning Sunday, September 19, 2021.
WSTA selected the routes with the lowest ridership after 7pm. From Monday through Saturday, Routes 81, 82, 84, 85, 90, 93, 97, 100, 101, 104, 105, 106, and 108 will not travel inbound after their outbound trips at or immediately after 7pm.
WSTA’s Sunday service will not change.
Regular night service will continue on Routes, 80, 83, 86, 87, 89, 91, 92, 94, 96, 103, 107, and 109.
After 7pm, Trans-AID will provide trips based on the service area during our operator shortage. Any passengers typically riding WSTA’s fixed route service after 7pm to get to work should contact our Mobility Management Department at 336-727-2000 to get detailed trip-planning information. Our customer service representatives will assist with finding the routes that may serve your commute needs until this temporary suspension of night service is over.
