Wake Forest center Emmanuel Okpomo officially entered the transfer portal last month, becoming the second Demon Deacons basketball transfer at the conclusion of the regular season, according to blogger Adam Bridgers.
The 6-10 freshman saw action in 14 games this season, averaging 1.1 points and 1.7 rebounds in about 10 minutes per game. His best game as a Deacon came against the NC State Wolfpack, where he finished the game with 5 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 blocks in 11 minutes played.
With the departure of Okpomo, Wake Forest is down to only two big men on the roster: Ody Oguama and Tariq Ingraham. Seeking some size this offseason, whether by recruitment or the transfer portal, would be critical for the coaching staff.
With only two guards committed for the 2021 recruiting class, a transition is potentially the best option for adding depth on the inside. Jahcobi Neath also transferred earlier this month.
Okpomo, like Neath, did not appear in Wake's final two games.
