Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Utilities has announced the initiation of the annual leaf mulch giveaway for residents of Forsyth County. The mulch will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis starting on Good Friday, April 18, and will continue on Saturdays April 19, April 26, and May 3, while supplies last. Distribution will take place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Forum 52 Yard Waste Facility, located at 180 Northstar Dr. in Rural Hall.

Operators will be present to assist in loading vehicles; however, it is mandatory for all recipients to bring a tarp to cover their mulch load before leaving the site. Those without a tarp will not have their vehicles loaded. When exiting, citizens will be directed to a designated safe area to secure their loads properly.

It is important to note that no mulch will be available prior to April 18. The free mulch is exclusively for Forsyth County homeowners arriving in cars or pickup trucks, with or without trailers. Vehicles exceeding one ton in weight are prohibited from receiving mulch. Homeowners employing contractors for mulch transportation must adhere to the specified vehicle guidelines. Additional details and updates regarding supply availability can be accessed at cityofws.org/leafmulch.
