City residents are invited to join Mayor Allen Joines and members of the Winston-Salem City Council at a groundbreaking ceremony for the first phase of the Salem Parkway Multi-Use Path on Tuesday, July 2 at 11 a.m. at the Green Street Pedestrian Bridge near Truist Stadium. Attendees should enter the parking lot at Truist Stadium from Broad Street to access the event.

The 1.3-mile urban trail will link Truist Stadium, Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist hospital, and downtown businesses to the Strollway, downtown commercial districts, and several residential neighborhoods. The first phase of the $4.8 million project was managed by the Winston-Salem Department of Transportation in partnership with metropolitan planning organizations, local and state Departments of Transportation, and other community groups.
