Changes in city operations for Memorial Day holiday

City offices will be closed Monday, May 27, to observe Memorial Day. CityLink 311, the city’s resident customer service center, will also be closed on Monday, May 27. Non-911 emergency calls will be forwarded to on-call staff within the appropriate department.

Requests for routine information or services may be submitted by email to Citylink@CityOfWS.org and through the CityLink 311 mobile app for processing on Tuesday, May 28. Residents can text 855-481-LINK (5465) for an immediate response.

Garbage collection will follow the normal schedule during the week of May 26. However, all yard-waste and recycling collections will be postponed by one day. Thursday’s yard waste will be collected on Friday, May 31, and Friday’s recycling collection will occur on Saturday, June 1.

The Hanes Mill Road Solid Waste Facility at 325 W. Hanes Mill Road in Winston-Salem will close at 3 p.m. on Monday, May 27. The Old Salisbury Road Landfill and Forum 52 and Overdale Road yard waste facilities will also be closed on Monday, May 27. Additionally, the 3RC EnviroStation will not operate on Saturday, May 25 or Monday, May 27.
