Changes in City Operations for Martin Luther King Jr. Day Holiday

City offices will be closed on Monday, Jan. 15, to observe Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The following city operations will be affected:

All yard-waste collections for the week of Jan. 14 will be postponed one day: Monday, Jan. 15 will be collected on Tuesday, Jan. 16; Tuesday, Jan. 16 on Wednesday, Jan. 17; Wednesday, Jan. 17 on Thursday, Jan. 18 and Thursday, Jan. 18 on Friday, Jan. 19.

There will be no change in garbage or recycling collections. 

CityLink 311, the city’s citizen service call center, will be closed on Monday, Jan. 15, but non-911 emergency calls will be forwarded to on-call staff with the appropriate department. Requests for routine information or services may be submitted by email to CityOfWS.org and the CityLink 311 mobile app for processing on Tuesday, Jan. 16 or text 855-481-LINK (5465) for an immediate response. 

The Hanes Mill Road Solid Waste Facility will close at 3 p.m.  The Forum 52 and Overdale Road yard waste facilities, the Old Salisbury Road Landfill and the 3RC EnviroStation all will be closed.
