From: January 5, 2023 post.

The Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP) provides a one-time payment, paid directly to providers to help eligible households pay their heating expense during the winter months (December - March) annually. Eligible households may receive $300, $400, or $500 based on their household size and income. Applicants are encouraged to provide copies of their heating bills (including account number) and proof of any income received the month prior to their application submission (example: January 2023 applicants should provide income received in December 2022) to expedite processing. Applying for LIEAP is easy! You may apply online via epass.nc.gov, by paper, in-person at DSS, or by phone (336-703-3800).
