FCDTF Expands Collaboration and Jurisdiction
FORSYTH COUNTY – Forsyth County Drug Task Force is officially expanding its collaboration and therefore its jurisdiction.
King Police Department (King PD) is now participating in the Forsyth County Drug Task Force (FCDTF). Officially signed into existence in December 2020, FCDTF is a unified county-wide task force designed to identify and dismantle criminal organizations trafficking illegal narcotics in Forsyth County. FCDTF is composed of the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO), the Kernersville Police Department (Kernersville PD), the King Police Department (King PD), and the Winston-Salem Police Department (WSPD), as well as task force officers from each of the federal law enforcement agencies that work in Forsyth County, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), and U.S. Marshals Service.
FCDTF Detectives investigate a case to the point where it reaches beyond the jurisdictional boundaries, then they rely on federal partners to continue the investigation as appropriate. The addition of King Police Department as a participant in FCDTF will extend the jurisdiction in which the group can operate.
“We are proud of the millions of dollars of narcotics that the FCDTF has taken off the streets in the last year and a half. With the addition of King Police Department as a new participant, our investigations will be expanded. The synergy of each of our agencies working together allow us to capitalize on our limited resources to make significant arrests and seizures for the safety of our community,” said Assistant Police Chief M. J. Cardwell, Winston-Salem Police Department.
“We look forward to this partnership, as we remain committed to combat illegal narcotics in our communities,” said Chief J. J. Boyette, King Police Department.
The FCDTF is the result of the collective pooling of resources related to narcotics investigations by the local law enforcement agencies in order to make a larger impact on the drug trade in Forsyth County. The task force focus is on identifying, investigating, and charging drug traffickers who are supplying street-level sellers and users.
Anyone with information related to this investigation or regarding narcotics activity located anywhere in Forsyth County is encouraged to reach out to the FCDTF.
