The Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Board of Education has named Monica Bruce as the new principal of Walkertown Middle School.
Ms. Bruce has been with WS/FCS since 2004 when she began as an English as a Second Language teacher at Mineral Springs Middle School. She transferred to John F. Kennedy High School to teach Spanish and returned to Mineral Springs Middle School as the assistant principal. She is currently the Assistant Principal at East Forsyth Middle School.
Bruce graduated from Salem College with a bachelor of arts in education and from Gardner-Webb with a master's degree in school administration. She received her teacher certification through Greensboro College. Bruce is currently pursuing an educational specialist degree from the University of Greensboro.
Ms. Bruce’s start date is still to be determined.
