City of Winston Salem issued the following announcement on Oct. 15.
The city’s Office of Business Inclusion and Advancement is again offering a free nine-week business training course for people interested in starting a small business or who recently started one. However, to keep participants safe this year the course will be taught online.
The training is designed to help participants evaluate the feasibility of a business concept and develop the skills required to become the owners and operators of successful small businesses. Topics include business plans, financing, legal issues, bookkeeping and taxes, marketing, business insurance, and more. Participants who complete the course are eligible to apply for a city small business loan and encouraged to participate in the next Business Plan Contest.
Classes will begin Oct. 27 and wrap up Dec. 22. Classes will be held 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday evenings. For more information or to sign up, send an email to Steven Harrison at stevench@cityofws.org.
