State Rep. Lee Zachary (R-Yadkinville) in August urged for North Carolina to "stay the course" with Republican policies that he said have enabled the state to create a faster recovery than neighboring states from the economic crisis created by restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In an Aug. 19 Facebook post where he referenced an article from TechWire, Zachary said that past and existing policies had made the difference for the state.
"North Carolina's economy is recovering much faster than competitors thanks to pro-growth Republican policies that transformed our business climate and state government to attract investments in the cutting edge jobs of tomorrow" Zachary posted. "We must stay the course."
The article from TechWire stated that the state has seen a "surge" in high-tech jobs since July, with those sectors already approaching the levels seen before the coronavirus pandemic.
With a 7.6% jobless rate in June, the state had 27,100 job openings in high-tech fields in July, the highest it had seen in four months, according to TechWire.
