Cost of college went up for all students at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts

In-state tuition and fees rose 0.4 percent for 2018-19 at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

North Carolina residents paid $9,371 to attend the four-year public institution this year – $33 more than the $9,338 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 172.3 percent more than residents this year, or $25,514. Their price tag grew 1.7 percent from $25,081 in 2017-18.

About 47 percent of the school's undergraduate population are North Carolina residents. About 50 percent are residents of other states and 3 percent are citizens of other countries.

Data shows 80 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 118 students received grants or scholarships totaling $948,661 and 90 students took out student loans totaling more than $617,128.

Including all undergraduates (1,042), 596 students used grants or scholarships totaling $5.5 million, and 490 students took out $3.2 million in federal student loans.
