The Carolina University Women's Volleyball team faced a challenging match against Johnson C. Smith University on their home court in Winston-Salem, NC, on Tuesday. The Bruins lost in a close series with set scores of 23-25, 22-25, and 23-25.
The first set featured an intense back-and-forth battle, with both teams exchanging leads. Despite a strong effort from the Bruins, the Bulls' defense was crucial in securing the narrow victory.
In the second set, the Bruins initially struggled and fell behind 0-4. They managed to regain momentum and tied the score at 8-8. Sarah-Elizabeth Samuels and Sion Murrian made significant offensive contributions, with Samuels leading the team with six kills.
During the third set, the Bruins found themselves trailing once more. Karli Totel boosted their offense with three consecutive kills, tying the score at 13-13. However, they ultimately could not maintain their lead and lost the set 23-25.
The Carolina University Women's Volleyball team will next compete on October 5th in Bluefield, Virginia. They will participate in a tri-match against Bluefield University and Montreat College.
