The stunning new mural in the hall of Morgan Elementary is nearing completion. The Morgan family is known as the “Mavericks” and aviation is a theme that runs throughout the school.
Artist Joe Serieka is a former WS/FCS art teacher and he now volunteers at Morgan. He’s been working on the mural since November. It’s an aerial view of the campus with a special plane flying over.
Pay close attention to the pilot. Morgan Elementary is named for longtime WS/FCS Principal Frank Morgan, so Mr. Serieka decided to put him in the cockpit! Mr. Morgan had aviation in his blood. He was in the Air Force during WWII before beginning his career in education.
The mural is a wonderful tribute and Mr. Serieka still has some details to add. We’ll have more pictures when it is complete.
