Winston Salem, North Carolina's, Under 40 is promoting the Animal Adoption Rescue Foundation (AARF) as its 2022 nonprofit community partner to encourage young adults to work for a better community.

“Encouraging community involvement is vital to Winston Under 40’s mission to cultivate young professional leaders,” Raven Griffin, who chairs the Winston Under 40 Advisory Board, said in a recent press release.

The AARF said now is a good time for the two groups to work together.

“The timing is perfect for AARF to grow our volunteer base with Winston Under 40,” AARF Executive Director, Mitchell Currin, said in the release. “Our new facility will allow us to expand our adoption, foster, and educational programs and provide additional veterinary care, and we are excited to partner with Winston Under 40 to help us as we grow.”

Winston Under 40 caters to young professionals and has about 1,500 members, the release stated. It promotes talent recruitment, retention, and development through three core goals: leadership development, community involvement, and networking opportunities. Each year, the group selects a local nonprofit partner to enhance members’ opportunities to volunteer and increase community engagement.

The partnership with AARF will give members of Winston Under 40 various opportunities to volunteer, according to the release. Volunteers can help the nonprofit with its relocation, support the Winston-Salem Dash Pups in the Park games, a Party 4 Paws fundraising event, and adoption fairs.

Winston Under 40 will also raise money for AARF through its annual golf tournament, which was held April 25, the release stated.

The AARF offers rescue, adoption, and foster care services for its animal, according to its website. It also helps pet owners who have limited income by providing food, spay and neuter assistance, and financial assistance for pet owners facing eviction.

Winston Under 40 selects its nonprofit community partner through an annual application process that its advisory board reviews, the release stated.
