WS/FCS 2022-2023 Calendar Survey – Vote for Your Choice Now!

Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools issued the following announcement on January 24.

The Board of Education and School District would like your feedback on the proposed 2022-2023 calendar. The district must follow North Carolina requirements for developing our academic calendar. These requirements are listed below for your review.  

The calendar must have 215 Staff Days.

The total number of teacher workdays for teachers employed for a 10-month term shall not exceed 195 days  

11 Holidays  

Minimum 10 Annual Leave Days (spring break, Christmas, etc.)  

185 instructional days OR 1025 instructional hours

Start Date for schools

The Monday closest to August 26th is the earliest we can start (Monday, August 29, 2022).

End Date for schools

No later than the Friday closest to June 11th (Friday, June 9, 2023)

We are asking everyone to vote on the two options in the survey. The differences between Calendar A and Calendar B are listed below.

91 Days in 1st Semester

90 Days in 1st Semester

17 Workdays

18 Workdays

5 Days for Thanksgiving

3 Days for Thanksgiving

8 Days for Winter Break  

11 Days for Winter Break

Get to the Calendar Survey with these links - English  |  Español. Please complete the survey by Tuesday, February 1. The results will be shared when the Board of Education votes on the calendar on Tuesday, February 8th.
