Winston-Salem North Carolina issued the following announcement on August 11.
Starting Monday, Aug. 19, the Winston-Salem Fire Department will begin an encore presentation of its virtual Citizen Fire Academy, featuring videos posted online in lieu of its traditional in-class program for city residents.
This year’s virtual academy has seven videos that will be rolled out every Thursday from Aug. 19 through Sept. 30. The videos will show how the Winston-Salem Fire Department operates and provide fire and life safety tips to keep you safe at home.
Topics include an overview of the Fire Department by Fire Chief Trey Mayo, instruction on how to conduct hands-only CPR, virtual tours of a fire station and a fire engine, home cooking safety tips and Fire Department training.
Residents can go to CityofWSFire.org and sign up to receive reminder notifications every time a new video for the virtual Citizen Fire Academy is posted.
