Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Utilities has announced the return of its annual leaf mulch giveaway for Forsyth County homeowners. The free mulch will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis starting on Good Friday, April 18. Distribution will continue on Saturdays, April 19, April 26, and May 3, as long as supplies last.
The distribution site is located at the Forum 52 Yard Waste Facility at 180 Northstar Drive in Rural Hall. Homeowners can collect mulch from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., where operators will assist in loading vehicles. It is important for participants to bring a tarp to fully cover their load; otherwise, their vehicle will not be loaded. Before leaving the facility, citizens must secure their load in a designated safe area.
No mulch will be available before April 18. The free offer is exclusive to Forsyth County homeowners using cars and pickup trucks with or without trailers. Vehicles over one ton are prohibited from receiving mulch under any circumstances. Homeowners employing contractors for hauling must adhere to all specified vehicle guidelines.
