The Winston-Salem Police Department has opened applications for the Youth Citizens’ Police Academy. This initiative targets students from rising freshmen to high school seniors who have an interest in learning about the police department or pursuing a career in law enforcement. Participation in the program is free of charge.

Scheduled to run from July 28 to August 1, 2025, the academy will take place at the Alexander R. Beaty Public Safety Training and Support Center on North Patterson Avenue. The sessions will occur daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with lunch provided for participants.

The program will cover various topics including a K-9 demonstration, forensic services, SWAT team operations, youth safety initiatives, service projects, and a drone unit demonstration.
