Winston-Salem offers public input sessions for FY2025-26 proposed budget

The city of Winston-Salem has announced multiple opportunities for the public to engage with the proposed fiscal year 2025-26 budget. Two public information sessions are scheduled, providing residents a chance to learn about and discuss the budget details.

The first session will be held on Tuesday, May 20, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Carl H. Russell Community Center located at 3521 Carver School Rd. The second session is set for Tuesday, May 27, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Little Creek Community Center at 698 Foxcroft Dr.

Additionally, the City Council has arranged a series of Committee of the Whole budget workshop meetings. An operating budget overview is planned for Wednesday, May 21, at 4 p.m., followed by a capital budget overview on Thursday, May 22, also at 4 p.m. Both meetings will take place in Room 230 of City Hall. On Wednesday, May 28, there will be a discussion regarding the recommended budget and property tax rate consideration at the same location and time.

A public hearing on the proposed budget is scheduled during the regular City Council meeting on Monday, June 2, at 6 p.m., in Room 230 of City Hall. The final adoption of the fiscal year 2025-26 budget is slated for June 16 during another City Council meeting.

Residents can review the proposed budget starting May 20 in person at the City Clerk’s Office in City Hall or online at CityOfWS.org/Budget.
