The Winston-Salem Recreation & Parks Department has announced that it will implement small fee adjustments for its programs and facilities. The department states that these changes are necessary to maintain the quality, safety, and accessibility of services provided to the community. The adjustments are intended to address increased costs related to maintenance, utilities, and supplies while keeping services affordable.

According to the department, many of the current fees have not changed in over ten years. The new adjustments reflect higher expenses for staffing, maintenance, and operations. Officials say that any future increases will be gradual and modest, and that rates remain below those in similar cities.

“Our goal is to keep recreation affordable while maintaining the quality programs and facilities our residents expect,” said William Royston, Recreation and Parks Director. “These modest adjustments allow us to recover costs without reducing services that benefit the entire community.”

All fee changes were reviewed and approved by the City Council. Assistance programs are available for seniors, low-income households, and individuals with disabilities for certain offerings.

Winston-Salem operates as a municipal government providing local public services such as water management, business support, sanitation, planning, public works, and more within North Carolina. Its City Council holds authority over budgets and local regulations (https://www.cityofws.org/).

Residents can find more details about the fee changes on the Recreation & Parks webpage or contact City Link 311 by calling 311 within city limits or (336) 727-8000; email inquiries are also accepted.
