The Wake Forest University School of Business recently held its annual awards luncheon to honor faculty members for their contributions during the 2024-25 academic year. The event recognized achievements in education, scholarship, and service.

Stephen Smulowitz, PhD, received the Cowan Faculty Research Award for representing the highest standards of scholarship. Pelin Pekgün, PhD, was awarded the High Impact Scholarship Award for significant influence on business practice or pedagogy.

Mark Johnson, PhD, was acknowledged with the Senior Class Teaching Award based on a ballot of all graduating seniors. Whitney Simpson and Jim Willis were chosen by graduating MSA students for their outstanding educational contributions. Ali Zeytoon-Nejad, PhD, received the MSM Class Teaching Award from graduating MSM students.

Tonya Balan, PhD, was honored with the MSBA Class Teaching Award by graduating MSBA students. Shannon McKeen received the MSBA Online Teaching Award from OMSBA graduates. Mark Johnson, PhD, and Amy Wallis, PhD, were recognized with the MBA Online Teaching Award by OMBA graduates.

Justin Martin, PhD, won the Winston-Salem Evening MBA Teaching Award. Amy Wallis, PhD, received both the Charlotte Evening MBA Teaching Award and shared recognition in other categories. Mark Johnson also took home the Charlotte Hybrid MBA Teaching Award.

Deon Strickland, PhD’s contribution to education earned him the Horace Kelly Alumni Teaching Award based on nominations from alumni who graduated ten years ago. Tonya Balan also secured the Kienzle Alumni Teaching Award voted upon by alumni three years post-graduation.

The T.B. Rose Fellowship in Business Award went to Roger Beahm and Rob Nash and Scott Shafer for notable innovation or initiative related to instruction. Jennifer Hudson was named Service MVP for her outstanding service beyond administrative duties.

Finally, Jenelle Conaway, PhD received the Spirit Award for displaying good citizenship and inspiring high achievement among colleagues.
