Wake Forest University has begun a national search for its next president following the announcement that President Susan R. Wente will step down at the end of June 2026.

Jeanne Whitman Bobbitt, chair of the Wake Forest Board of Trustees, and Curt Farmer, vice chair, informed the university community about the search in a message sent today. Both will serve as co-chairs of the Presidential Search Committee. The committee will include representatives from trustees, faculty, staff, alumni, parents, and one student.

“We will draw on our shared values, our pursuit of excellence, our emphasis on relationships and conversation, our devotion to mission and our optimism for the future, to guide us in selecting our next president,” Bobbitt and Farmer wrote.

The Board has also launched a presidential search website that provides information about committee members, details on the search process, and access to a survey for community feedback. Members of the Wake Forest community are encouraged to participate by completing the survey.
