The Carolina University Men's Soccer team began their campaign in the NCCAA National Tournament with a narrow victory over Asbury University. The match, held in Kissimmee, Florida, saw the top-seeded Bruins secure a 3-2 win against the ninth-seeded Eagles.
Asbury took an early lead in the game, but Carolina quickly responded to level the score. Luigi Piccoli scored for the Bruins with assistance from Matthew McCamley and Luke Spillane-Davis. The first half was marked by intense play from both sides, with Carolina's defense working hard to contain Asbury's advances. Senior Owen Vaughan added another goal for Carolina before halftime, assisted by Henrique Buccini, putting them ahead 2-1.
In the second half, senior Luke Spillane-Davis increased Carolina's lead with another goal shortly after play resumed. Despite a late goal from Asbury, they could not overcome Carolina's advantage as time expired. The match concluded with a 3-2 victory for Carolina University.
Carolina will face Southwestern Christian University in their next tournament match on Wednesday, December 4th at 1:00 PM.
