Carolina University's men's soccer team secured a decisive 8-0 victory against the University of Pikeville Bears in an away match. The Bruins showcased a strong offensive performance, with goals scored by eight different players.
Senior Owen Vaughn initiated the scoring, assisted by Luigi Piccoli, who then added another goal shortly after. Piccoli also assisted Karell Buitendijk's goal, ending the first half with a 3-0 lead for the Bruins.
In the second half, Atikilt Tamiru scored early on. Goalkeeper Joshua Wilson contributed with four crucial saves to maintain the shutout. Luke Spillane-Davis capitalized on a turnover to extend the lead to 5-0. Nathan Rue's corner kick was converted into a goal by Jose Noriega. Henrique Buccini and Lewis Jacklin each added goals as well, with Jacklin scoring in the final seconds of the match.
Luigi Piccoli had an outstanding game, recording three assists. This victory reinforces Carolina University's third-place position in the NCCAA standings. The team is set to play again on September 27th against Greensboro College.
