WS/FCS Names New Director of Security

Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools issued the following announcement on February 17.

February 17, 2022 – The Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Board of Education has approved Cedric Collins as the new WS/FCS Director of Security. Mr. Collins has over 25 years of experience in law enforcement and security.

“WS/FCS is excited for Cedric to join the Safety, Security, and Emergency Management team as we continue to enhance security policies, procedures, and tools to keep our students and staff safe," said Jonathan Wilson, WS/FCS Chief Program Officer of Safety and Security.

Most recently, Collins served as a Public Safety Officer with WakeMed Hospital in Raleigh. Prior to moving to North Carolina, he was a police officer for the Bothell Police Department in Washington State. He also served as the Safety and Security Manager for the Lake Washington School District, the second largest district in the state.

During his 23 years in law enforcement, Collins held many positions, including three years as a School Resource Officer and twelve years as a Patrol Sergeant and Administrative Services Sergeant.

He earned an Associate in Arts Degree from Sheldon Jackson College in Sitka, Alaska and a Bachelor of Arts from The Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington.

Collins is passionate about protecting others and knows that students learn best when they feel safe and secure.

He will begin his new position in March.
