Music Teacher, Cash Elementary

DECEMBER 20, 2021 – Cash Elementary has released an original virtual storybook performance called “’Twas the Week Before Christmas”, a collaborative effort by Cash Elementary School’s Art and Music Departments featuring artwork, music, and acting from all grade levels at Cash.

Every Cash student had the chance to contribute something to this mass collaborative effort by our Art and Music Departments. Please join us in enjoying “‘Twas the Week Before Christmas”.

“'Twas the Week Before Christmas” is an original children's book written to be an elementary school music performance piece by Adam Mitchell, the music teacher at Cash Elementary School in Kernersville. It first premiered by Cash Elementary School's third grade in December 2019 at Cash Elementary School's annual winter concert.

This concert was the last winter concert prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. Fast forward to 2021. The third graders that premiered "'Twas" are in fifth grade, and, in honor of the students that originally premiered it, Cash Elementary School undertook a school-wide collaborative video project to bring "'Twas" to life.

EPage 5very student in the school from Pre-K to fifth grade had the opportunity to record the theme song with their class, which was then layered with an instrumental accompaniment recorded by Cash fourth and fifth grades and audio contributions from Mr. Mitchell and East Forsyth High School Teacher Cadet Mr. Cole Vandiver.

The background illustrations for each scene were a collaboration by Cash first and fifth grade art classes, which were digitized for use with green screen for each scene. Each scene features a different grade level narrating and performing and is accompanied by different sound effects recorded by Cash third grade using voice, props, and instruments. We hope you enjoy Cash Elementary's Fall 2021 production of "'Twas the Week Before Christmas".
