Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools issued the following announcement on November 10.
The WS/FCS Office of New Teacher Induction supports all teachers during their first three years in the classroom. This is one in a series spotlighting some of the teachers nominated by their mentors.
Spotlight 22NOVEMBER 10, 2021 – Christy McDougald is a first-year Exceptional Children (EC) teacher at Cash Elementary. She teaches in a Functional MAP (Multiple Abilities Program) classroom.
Her mentor is Jennifer Clayton. This is what Clayton had to say about McDougald:
“Ms. McDougald has created and nurtured an environment that fosters learning. She personally knows each child's interests and personality. She communicates with each child using multiple modes of communication.”
“The classroom routines and procedures have been put into place with the use of visual schedules and daily practices. Whole group instruction and activities are in place to develop a sense of community and common language. Small group instruction takes place throughout the day to meet individual student goals.”
