The Magnet and Choice Showcase will be held from 10 a.m, to 2 p.m on Nov. 6 in the Education Building at the Carolina Classic Fairgrounds.

Choice 55OCTOBER 13, 2021 – At the Magnet and Choice Showcase, people can learn more about schools through the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County school system.

“Our goal is to showcase all of the school options across the district,” said Dr. Karen Roseboro, the Chief Officer for Choice and Magnet Schools.

“We highlight all the schools and what makes them unique,” said Magan Wiggins, the Choice and Magnet Specialist.

Students from some of the schools will perform throughout the day.

And students who attend some of the schools will be on hand to talk about what makes their school special.

WS/FCS has launched a new Office of Choice and Magnet Schools to support school choice options and magnet schools across the district. Visit the website for more information

“We have an array of school choice options and our magnet options,” Roseboro said.

Our goals are to help all families and community partners understand the choice process, clearly define the differences between zone choice and magnet schools and create a more efficient and transparent choice process.

The district has four distinct WS/FCS Magnet Themes in addition to the vast array of other magnet and zone choice options. The four distinct Magnet themes are:

Visual and Performing Arts

International Baccalaureate

STEM/STEAM

Dual Language

We also have a new application timeline for Choice and Magnet Schools.

From Nov. 29 through Dec. 21, the Office of Choice and Magnet Schoos and the Community Engagement Team will have people on hand at locations throughout the community to help families with the choice and magnet applications. Sites will include YMCA's, City of Winston-Salem recreation centers, the Boys & Girls Club, and faith-based organizations.
